Send both context and detail for an upholstery assessment. A wide photograph shows how the interior fits together; close-ups show the surfaces you want to change. Add your car model and year, or vessel type and approximate cushion dimensions, so the atelier can understand the project before discussing an inspection.

Start wide.

For a car, photograph the complete front cabin, rear seating and the doors. For a boat, show each seating arrangement with cushions in position. Keep the camera level and use available daylight. Avoid heavy filters that change colour or conceal texture.

Then show the important detail.

Photograph worn edges, loose seams and detached fabric. Include one closer view and one that shows where the detail sits. If an item is removable, a view of its underside and fixings may help. You do not need to dismantle anything for an initial enquiry.

Add the direction.

Include a reference you like, the surfaces you want to keep and any desired date. Avoid including faces, vehicle registration documents or other private information. An image supports a first assessment; it cannot show every hidden condition.
